From a Junior Legal admin to Executive Assistant at a SaaS company!

I spent 8+ years in the Legal industry working at several law firms, big and small. I started my career as a Junior Secretary and departed as an Admin and PA to a Senior Partner. I loved the constantly shifting nature of Law firms (and even the stressful deadlines!) but I was ready for a change. I was fortunate enough to be contacted by PageUp about an EA role and decided to take the leap into a completely unknown industry to me. Since then, I have followed our CEO (who was the Chief Financial Officer when I started) and have been given the freedom and experience to explore various tasks and roles, including supporting our Legal team at various intervals. Some accomplishments I'm proud of include assisting with IPOs and Aquisitions, managing office renos and moves and coordinating some of the larger scale social and executive events.

Executive Assistant to the CEO and wearer of many hats!

Where to begin! My current role is busy, mostly autonomous and rewarding. My main priority is supporting our CEO which predominately incorporates domestic and international travel, diary management with both internal and external stakeholders and various ad hoc tasks Mark needs assistance with, including coordinating yearly Leadership team conferences and any business critical projects we may have on the go. I have also been working with the Product Management team for the past 3 years and help coordinate product feedback sessions with Customers and Prospects. The transient nature of Covid has allowed me to move into the revenue and contracts space which has been another new and exciting challenge. It also takes me back to navigating deadlines which I thrive on. I coordinate regional events for our Sydney team and also assist with larger company events. I'm the point of contact for the Sydney office and arrange travel for the Sydney team. I also assist with occasional reception duties and travel for the wider business while we are still coming out the other end of a whirlwind two years of Covid. I am able to support our CEO and still wear many hats in the process. I love it.

Every day is different

My role allows me to connect with lots of different people across the business which I love. My morning team standups provide opportunities to bounce ideas and check in. Working in revenue and contracts means every day is different as every Customer has different needs and expectations. I enjoy putting my thinking cap on and being able to solve problems, especially if this is done collectively as a team. Mark is an open minded and supportive Leader and gives me the autonomy to explore different areas of the business and expand my skills. I've never felt stifled. I have a voice at PageUp and am encouraged to use it.

Take the leap!

I must admit I was really overwhelmed at the prospect of diving head first into a new industry when I started at PageUp. I'm very fortunate that they gave me the time and space to make the change - and that was ultimately a deciding factor in feeling like this was the right place for me. I have been here for over 6 years now and aways find new reasons to love my job. I know not every job opportunity ends in a fairytale, but we spend so much time at work it's absolutely worth finding something you enjoy and a place where you feel valued. Listen to your head and your heart and take the leap!

Having the courage to try new things...

Many new challenges have felt overwhelming or out of reach, but I still achieved them! A lot of it comes down to having supportive team members in my corner. I think coordinating an entire office reno several months after starting has always remained high on my list of proud achievements but there have been many over the years! Navigating some really challenging times as a team is definintely up there but mostly I'm proud of working with passionate people that encourage and support each other every day.
