I would suggest three things, #1 always focus on doing your best work in your current job - this is table stakes to get your next promotion #2 look for and take all the opportunities you are presented with - opportunities to progress come from unexpected quarters and #3 focus on people, build great teams, learn to understand people and treat people in a fair and equitable way.
