I think that if I knew how much knowledge I'm expected to start with, I'd have been a lot more relaxed. In reality, a new developer starting out isn't supposed to know how everything works, so it's not worth worrying over. Instead, I found that it's better to focus on fitting in well with your new team, and getting acclimatised to your new environment.
